IMAX CEO Rich Gelfond analyzes opening weekend numbers for ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ after some say the sequel fell short of Disney’s expectations of ‘The Claman Countdown’.
With three major blockbusters to his name, director James Cameron writes history.
His latest movie “Avatar: The Way of Water” has now grossed $2 billion, making Cameron the first three-film director to reach that milestone.
He was previously linked with the Russo Brothers, known for producing both Marvel movies “Avengers: Endgame” and “Avengers: Infinity War.”
Cameron now holds three slots of the six highest-grossing films of all time with ‘Titanic’, ‘Avatar’ and ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’.

Cameron’s movie “Avatar” is the best movie on the list.
One of the stars of the 2009 movie, Zoe Saldaña, is making history herself. She is now the first actor with four films grossing more than $2 billion. Apart from starring in both ‘Avatar’ productions, she also starred in the ‘Avengers’ franchise.
