The draws for the quarter-finals and semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League will take place in Nyon, Switzerland on Friday. With no seeding rules at this stage, any of the teams could face each other and sides could be from the same country, and were drawn together with Napoli and A.C. Milan as the well-known enemies facing each other. The draw kicked off at 7pm ET on Paramount+ and generated a lot of intrigue. Quarter-final Champions League
Real Madrid vs. Chelsea
This is a rematch of last year’s quarter-final, a dramatic back-and-forth draw that ended 5-4 and Madrid progressed to the semi-finals. Carlo Ancelotti will once again face his old club (and in fact there is a possible world where the well-traveled manager will face three clubs he has led on their way to the title in Chelsea, Bayern Munich and then Napoli or AC Milan).
Inter against SL Benfica
Inter gets its second Portuguese team in a row after narrowly passing Porto in the round of 16. This will not be an easy task for the Italian side as Benfica have looked dominant in both the Champions League and their domestic league this season. where they lead Porto by eight points.
Manchester City vs Bayern Munich
The big game of the quarterfinals. This is the first time these two sides have met since the group stage in 2014/15. Bayern, then led by current City boss Pep Guardiola, topped the group, although each side won their head-to-head game at home. It is a stroke of luck for these two sides, the odds-on favorites to win the tournament, to be drawn together at such an early stage.
AC Milan against Naples
The fact that AC Milan, Napoli and Inter are all on the same side means that either Benfica will be the most unlikely finalist in a generation, or an Italian side will be vying for the Champions League title in Istanbul. Napoli have dominated Serie A where they have an 18 point lead, can they repeat this trick in Europe?
