Prince William & Kate Middleton Season 6 First Look – Variety

Two of the most infamous modern royals are poised to make their television debuts.

In the sixth season of ‘The Crown’, currently filming in St. Andrews, Scotland, Ed McVey and Meg Bellamy will play middle-aged Prince William and Kate Middleton respectively. The couple met in 2001 while studying at the University of St Andrews, and photographers caught the actors on March 17 filming what appeared to be a potential meet cute.

William and Kate’s relationship has been avidly followed by tabloids ever since they met. They became engaged in November 2010 and were married on April 29, 2011 at Westminster Abbey. They also have three children: Prince George of Wales, Princess Charlotte of Wales and Prince Louis of Wales.

It is speculated that this season will focus on the royal family in the ’90s, including the death of William’s mother, Princess Diana. While it is believed they won’t show the moment of death, it will include the lead up and aftermath. A source told Variety there is a strong desire within the production team “to get it right and handle it [it] sensitive.”

In September 2022, “The Crown” paused filming on the day of Queen Elizabeth II’s death and also announced they would suspend production on the day of her funeral.

Prince William has recently come under fire after his brother Prince Harry revealed in his autobiography that William physically assaulted Harry after insulting his wife, Meghan Markle.

After reportedly calling Markle “difficult,” “rude,” and “abrasive,” Harry wrote that William “grabbed me by the collar, ripped my chain, and … slammed me to the ground.”
