Jobs helping businesses digitize and grow amid economic volatility are on the rise in Singapore, according to LinkedIn.
The latest Jobs on the Rise data revealed spikes in hiring for growth specialists, tech jobs and healthcare professionals in Asia, among other jobs expected to increase well into 2023.
LinkedIn researchers surveyed jobs from January 2018 to July 2022 to calculate the growth rate for each job title in a specific country.

LinkedIn added that in order to be ranked, a job title must have grown consistently on the platform over the past five years and “grow to a meaningful size” by 2022.
Employees can use this list to define their next step in their career and “prepare for the future world of work,” it added.
Singapore job trends
LinkedIn’s report found that the share of paid job postings offering a remote working option has fallen from 7.8% in December 2021 to 4.1% in the same period last year.
Guy Berger, chief economist, said in another report last year that the economic climate is causing some companies to “fall back on the flexibility” introduced during the pandemic.
However, what is emerging are engineering or technical positions, such as cloud engineer, cybersecurity engineer, back-end developer, and artificial intelligence engineer.
The growth of AI, increased focus on cybersecurity and the continued shift to digital are driving growth in tech jobs.

Such jobs make up nearly half of Singapore’s LinkedIn list.
“The growth of AI, increased focus on cybersecurity and the continued shift to digital is driving growth in tech jobs,” said Pooja Chhabria, careers expert and chief editor for Asia Pacific at LinkedIn.
It is also “not unexpected” that tech jobs dominate Singapore’s list, she added, given that the country has built a strong presence as a starting destination.
“From a geographic perspective, Singapore is a good base for tech companies looking to enter Southeast Asia and other APAC markets.”
Demand for tech workers remains strong
Last year, however, waves of tech layoffs were reported in Southeast Asia amid challenging macroeconomic conditions, including Indonesia’s GoTo Group, Singapore’s Sea Group and Carousell.
Chhabria remains optimistic, saying this will be a transitional year for the tech industry, potentially “returning to more normal hiring levels.”
“Overall demand for workers remains strong as workers move to other jobs within and across the industry,” she added.
“Tech jobs not only serve the tech sector, but are in demand in other industries as they continue to invest in digital transformation.”

As in India, jobs focused on business growth and acquiring new customers are also growing, according to LinkedIn.
Such jobs — which Chhabria says help “companies do more with less” during times of economic uncertainty — include sales development, business development and demand generation.
